By-Laws
1. Name— The name of the organization will be Friends of the Glenwood-Lynwood Library.
2. Mission—The Friends of the Glenwood-Lynwood Library is a non-profit association whose mission is to: promote interest in the use of the library's sources and services; encourage gifts, endowments, and bequests to benefit the library; sponsor special programs for the purpose of raising funds for equipment, books, and activities which are beyond the tax-supported budget; and assist the library staff with exhibits, programs, publications, and other activities as needed.
3. Membership—Membership is open to any resident or business in the Glenwood-Lynwood Library District who is interested in supporting the mission of the Friends of the Glenwood-Lynwood Library.
4. Membership Year—The membership year is from January 1st to December 31st.
5. Annual Dues— Student: $2; Senior Citizen: $5; Individual: $7; Family: $10; Business or Group: $25; Lifetime membership: $75
6. Officers— The President shall plan for and preside at the meeting of the Friends of the Glenwood-Lynwood Library. Whenever it is deemed advisable, the President may request assistance of any member of the Friends of the Glenwood-Lynwood Library to fulfill the mission of the organization. The Vice-President shall assist the President in the duties of that office. The Secretary shall record the minutes of the meetings and present them at the next meeting. The Treasurer shall give an accounting at the meetings of all funds collected and disbursed by the Friends of the Glenwood-Lynwood Library.
All officers shall be elected at the June meeting for a term of two(2) years. They may be re-elected.
7. Meetings The Friends of the Glenwood-Lynwood Library will meet quarterly on Wednesdays in the Glenwood- Lynwood Library facility every 3 months at alternating times of 1:00 pm and 7:00 pm, at which time lectures and programs may be presented and necessary business will be conducted. The meeting dates and time will be included in the library calendar.
8. Committees Committees will be formed as necessary to conduct the business of the Friends of the Glenwood-Lynwood Library.
9. Amendments Any member of the Friends of the Glenwood-Lynwood Library may propose amendments to these bylaws for approval at the June meeting. The proposed amendments must be submitted in time to be included in the notice of the June meeting. These bylaws will supersede all previous bylaws, and shall be effective upon their adoption by two-thirds(2/3)vote of those present at the June meeting.10. Roberts Rules of Order Parliamentary procedure will be in accordance with Roberts Rules of Order.
